How To Add Meta Description In WordPress Home page
Step 1: Login to your WordPress Dashboard
Step 2: Click on Settings ⇉ Reading
Step 2.1: Now check whether your Homepage is set to Latest posts or a Static Page.
Step 3: If it’s set to a Static Page, like let’s say “HOME” (see picture above), then go to Pages
Step 4: Open the Page tagged with “Home”, edit the meta description on the page and save!

How To Change Meta Description in WordPress Home Page For Non-Static Pages
If your website is not using a Static Page as it’s homepage, then you can change it by;
Step 1: Login to your Dashboard
Step 2: Click on Yoast SEO
Step 3: Scroll and Click Search Appearance
And then edit your site’s homepage description there
